In commemoration of World Mangrove day in 2024, Yayasan Mitra Insani organized a series of competitions and entertainment activities to raise awareness of the importance of mangrove Ecosystem Conservation on the Indragiri Hilir Coast.
With the tagline “Save mangroves, save lives, ‘ the event aims to educate the public on the importance of maintaining mangrove ecosystems and supporting carbon emission reduction.
In this case one of the main events is the ‘mangrove Run,’ a running race held to attract community participation in supporting the reduction of carbon emissions in a healthy way.
A total of 200 participants from various ages also enliven this activity.Sunday (28/7/2024)
This activity was centered on Jalan Swarna Bumi which started at 06.15 WIB was welcomed by high enthusiasm from the local community who attended.
The release of the start was carried out by the head of the Inhil youth and Sports Office (Kadispora), Mr. Qodri Rama Putra, who was accompanied by the director of the Mitra Insani Foundation, Herbet Linto Retto Panggabean.
Rukim, one of the Bakaurun participants, said “the event is interesting with a new running concept that includes the theme of reducing carbon emissions’
‘I hope activities like this can become an annual agenda so that people understand the importance of reducing carbon emissions,’ he continued
This running competition aims to increase understanding of the importance of preserving the environment through small steps.
In addition to running competitions, the commemoration of World Mangrove Day is also filled with various educational activities.
such as painting exhibitions, exhibitions of mangrove processed products enlivened by MSME actors, mangrove-themed coloring competitions, healthy Gymnastics and door prize distribution.
Also the mangrove 2024 men and Women election which took place from Thursday 25-27 July 2024.
World Mangrove day 2024
In the evening the world Mangrove Day commemoration was held at Gajah Mada field and attended by stakeholders of Related Agencies. The event was opened by the acting regent Inhil represented by the head of Kesbangpol Indragiri Hilir.
‘Happy World Mangrove day and environmental campaign in Indragiri Hilir regency. This district has the largest mangrove area in Riau. Hopefully this momentum can foster our spirit in protecting mangrove ecosystems to be maintained, ‘ said the representative of Pj Regent.
The event opened with an opening dance from Sanggar Pelita Dance, followed by the song Indonesia Raya.
Followed by the parade of Mangrove 2024 male-female finalists, the awarding of Mangrove 2024 Male-Female titles in Indragiri Hilir regency, the delivery of the mangrove Run prize winners, the appearance of mangrove-themed poetry visualization from SMAN 1 Tembilahan Hulu.
And closed with the performance of Riau’s local band, Pasar Wadai Jamaica.
