Yayasan Mitra Insani (YMI) is a non-governmental organization established as a foundation in Pekanbaru on September 24, 1998. The organization was founded with the aim of achieving environmental management that is equitable—ecologically, socially, culturally, and economically.

The creation of a local community capable of managing natural resources, actively participating in their management, and ensuring that the local community benefits from the sustainable management of natural resources .

Encourage and accompany local communities in exploring and improving their knowledge and abilities, identifying the potential and problems that exist in their area, as well as exploiting existing potential and finding solutions to existing problems.

Strategy

Mitra Insani carries out work in the form of education and training, research and development, advocacy, and collaboration with various parties to achieve its goals. YMI makes various efforts to seek and utilize support from various parties, both regionally, nationally, and internationally. YMI also raises awareness towards increasing support for the enhancement of local community resources, the development and advancement of community businesses, and fights for management space for communities in important areas. All of this is expected to ensure equitable and sustainable natural resource management.
